Overview

Settings is the control room for your account. This is where you configure how the app sends email and text messages, decide who on your team has access, teach the app about your brand so it can write and design on your behalf, set the rules that keep messages consistent and compliant, and keep an eye on how much you're using.

You don't need to visit most of Settings often — a handful of items (sending email/SMS setup, custom fields, inviting your team) are typically one-time setup, while others (usage, users) you'll check in on periodically.

What you see here depends on your role. Admins see every section below. Regular users see Business DNA — which they can read but not change — and Usage; the rest are hidden, because changing them affects the whole account. See Users and permissions.

What you can do here

  • Set up sending — verify the domain, and the phone number, that your messages send from. See Email and SMS setup.
  • Connect other tools and data sources — link a CRM, connect apps the AI agent can use on your behalf, and manage those connections. See Integrations and connectors.
  • Manage contact fields — add or edit the custom pieces of information you track about contacts. This has its own dedicated guide: Custom fields.
  • Manage your team — invite teammates, adjust their role, and remove access when someone leaves. See Users and permissions.
  • Teach the app your brand — colors, fonts, tone of voice, and imagery style, so AI-generated content matches your brand automatically. See Business DNA.
  • Protect contacts from over-messaging — cap how many marketing emails and texts a single contact receives across all your campaigns and journeys, with an optional override for must-reach announcements. See Guards.
  • Require confirmation before you mail someone — turn on double opt-in for a subscription list so new sign-ups have to click a confirmation link before they receive anything, list by list, with existing subscribers unaffected. See Double opt-in.
  • Handle privacy requests — track every request from someone for a copy of their data or for its deletion, with its deadline, its audit trail, and the export file to send them. See Privacy.
  • Track usage and billing — see how much of your plan (messages, AI credits, and more) you've used and what's left. See Usage and billing.

Example scenarios

Scenario: Set up your sending domain for the first time

  1. Open Settings and go to the Email tab.
  2. Under "Verified domains," add the domain you send business email from (for example, yourcompany.com).
  3. Publish the DNS records it gives you with your domain provider, then click Verify now once they're live. Once the domain shows "Verified," any address at that domain — like hello@yourcompany.com — can send.
  4. Optional: set up email link branding so links inside your emails point to your own domain rather than a generic sending domain.

See Email and SMS setup for the full walkthrough, including text messaging.

Scenario: Invite a teammate

  1. Open Settings and go to the Users tab.
  2. Click to invite a new user, and enter their email address. Name and phone are optional.
  3. If they should have full administrative access, check the option to make them an admin — otherwise they're invited as a regular user and can be promoted later.
  4. Send the invite. Your teammate receives an email invitation; once they accept it, they show up in your Users list as active.

See Users and permissions for what each role can do.

FAQ

Q: Do I need to set up both email and SMS? A: No. Set up whichever channels you actually plan to send from. Many accounts only send email. If you never plan to text contacts, you can skip the SMS tab entirely.

Q: I added my domain — why can't I send yet? A: The domain needs to finish verifying first. Check the status shown on the Email tab; a domain still "Pending" needs its DNS records published (or more time for them to propagate — up to 48 hours) before it's ready. For text messages, an approved compliance registration is required in the same way — check the SMS tab.

Q: Who can see the Settings area? A: Everyone can open Settings, but what's in it depends on your role. Admins see every tab. Regular users see Business DNA (which they can read but not change) and Usage — the account-wide tabs like users, sending setup, and integrations are hidden, since changing them affects everyone. See Users and permissions for details on roles.

Q: Where do I add or edit fields I track on contacts, like "account tier" or "renewal date"? A: That's Contact Fields, in the Settings sidebar. It's covered in its own guide: Custom fields.

Q: What is "Business DNA" and do I have to fill it out? A: It's how you teach the app your brand's colors, fonts, voice, and imagery style, so anything it generates for you — emails, images, web pages — looks and sounds like your brand without you specifying it every time. It's optional, but the more complete it is, the less editing you'll need to do after the AI generates something. See Business DNA.

Q: What's the difference between "Integrations" and "MCP Tools" in the sidebar? A: Integrations connects business systems like your CRM so contact and deal data can flow in and out. Connectors (labeled "MCP Tools") connect outside apps and services that the AI agent can use as tools while working on your behalf. Both are covered in Integrations and connectors.

Q: Where do I see how much of my plan I've used? A: The Usage tab shows your usage across messages, AI credits, and other metered parts of your plan for the current period. See Usage and billing.

Q: Can I set a company-wide rule like "never send more than one message a day to the same contact"? A: Yes — that's what Guards is for. Send limits cap how many marketing emails or texts one contact can receive from you in a rolling window, counted across every campaign, journey and broadcast. See Guards.
